Swift and Majestic
But not for human eyes
So to punish an impure race
Hide from us your ancient face
And keep from us your hunting cry.

But none so beautiful as I can see
The firm purpose to good gravitate.
The skies once again will boast
The wings of the shining host.
And till that time we breathless wait.

Ancient tales tell of a mysterious and dangerous race that ruled mountains and skies, with their own laws, societies, and interactions that were well beyond that of the lowly human mind. It was not for us to be able to understand the comings and goings of this mighty peoples.
But in time, human beings began to reveal their cruel nature, their violent tendencies. Dragons had all but given up on their violent ways, widely known and acknowledged as the most dangerous, and they were never threatened. But the actions of the humans disgusted the dragons, and so they took from us the most precious gift they had ever given us; themselves.
The pieces of dragons (when they finally did die) were priceless, in that they had protective and healing properties. The Dragons themselves protected human beings, and provided for them, so to remove these creatures from us, was the most potent punishment that could ever be thought.
To prevent humans from becoming boastful in the future, the dragons removed themselves from humans, flying west over the mountains, never to be seen again.
But it was told, that in time of great need, the dragons could once again be called on by a daughter of the old land, who followed the old ways when all others had forgotten the ancient traditions and the practices of a kinder time.

And so, they come to my call.
